Have a Sizzling Valentines Day!

I was at my local Mexican grocer El Rey getting ingredients for my next world dish and happened upon these heart shaped packaged ribeye steaks. At first I thought how cute but then saw it was only $6.99/lb! I had to buy them. I rummaged through the packages until I found the perfect steaks. I almost headed right for the register but remembered I was here for other items. Shopping list completed I checked out.

Heart Steaks

Driving home through the winter slush and snow I said to myself, I bet my grill is covered in snow. It’s the middle of February in Wisconsin of course its covered in snow.

Snow Grill

After clearing the grill of snow I headed inside to prep the steaks. I let the steaks warm up to room temperature on the counter for about an hour. I then proceeded to start the grill and waited until the temperature got to least 550 degrees. I seasoned these steaks simply with course sea-salt and fresh ground pepper. Time to Grill!

Grilling

These steaks are 3/4 inches thick which means I will be grilling for a total of 5 minutes for medium-rare. Steaks go on the grill. I close the lid and I wait 90 seconds then give them a quarter turn and wait 60 seconds. Flip steaks and do the same 90 seconds then give them a quarter turn for and wait 60 seconds.

Sizzling-MMI

The smell of sizzling steak on the grill never gets old. If anyone is out shoveling snow right now they are being tortured with this awesome aroma.

Steak

Tented under tinfoil I let the steaks rest for 10 minutes. Time to eat! I must apologize. I had the best intentions of taking a picture of the gorgeous pink red interior. After taking my first succulent delicious bite taking a photo was the last thing on my mind.
